Lois M. “Dottie” Gassaway

Lois M. “Dottie” Gassaway, 87, of Danville passed away at 6:47 p.m. Monday November 4, 2013 at North Logan Health Care, Danville, Illinois.

Dottie was born on April 7, 1926 in Williamsport, IN, the daughter of Amos C. and Mary Joene Shamp Young. She married Robert White Gassaway in 1976. He preceded her in death on December 28, 2001. Survivors include three sons: Jerry L. Susan Snider of Danville, IL, Robert G. (Judy) Gassaway of Murfreesboro, TN, and Robert White Gassaway Jr. of Missouri; three daughters: Kathie (Paul) Case of Danville, IL, Jovonne Sungail of Catlin, IL, and Maryanne Schaurshag of California; one sister: Sally (John) Brooks of Attica, IN; thirteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, four sisters, and one great grandchild.

Dottie was an active member of the Danville United Church of Christ. She enjoyed flowers, cooking, and fishing. 

Funeral services 11 am Saturday at the Sycamore Baptist Church in Woodbury, Tennessee with visitation from 10 till service time at the church on Saturday.  Burial in the Sycamore Cemetery, Woodbury, Tennessee.  Memorials to the Danville United Church of Christ in Danville, Ill.  Online condolences at www.woodburyfuneralhome.net
