Cannon County’s run in the District 8-AA baseball tournament ended with losses against regular-season champion Central Magnet and Livingston Academy.

The Lions (9-22-1) suffered a 5-2 setback against Central Magnet in the winner’s bracket. They fell to Livingston Academy, 7-5, in the elimination game.

“We just didn’t play good enough defense in the elimination game,” Cannon County coach Tony Stinnett said. “In the end that was the difference in the game. I am proud of the team. We made a lot of improvements this season and I expect for those to show in terms of experience.”

Dalton Bell capped his senior season with a strong tournament showing. He earned a win on the mound. He also had two doubles and three RBI in the final two games.

Bell and Jake Todd had the team’s two RBIs against Central Magnet. Nick Vassar pitched well enough to win but the Lions couldn’t muster any run support.

Vassar and Bragg provided the run production against Livingston Academy.
