Cannon County advanced to the semifinals of the Region 4-AA Girls Basketball Tournament with a home victory over Bledsoe County.

The Lionettes walloped the Lady Warriors 69-39.

Cannon County moves on to face DeKalb County Monday night in a semifinals game at White County High School in Sparta. DeKalb County beat Grundy County 56-40 Friday.

In fact it was a complete sweep for District 8-AA teams against District 7-AA Friday, as Upperman defeated Sequatchie County 48-27 and Livingston Academy edged Chattanooga Christian 62-50.

Livingston and Upperman will also square off Monday. The championship game will be played Wednesday. Monday's winners are assured a berth in the sectionals next Saturday.

Emily Sissom led the Lionettes against Bledsoe with 17 points, while Taylor King added 11 and Chelsey Payne 10. Erica Melton scored 8, Ashley Campbell 8 and Lindsey Reed 5.

The break-away quarter for Cannon County was the first, as the Lionettes dominated 18-3.

In boys Region 4-AA action, the Cannon County Lions will travel to Grundy County Saturday night for a 7 p.m. encounter.
