Limb Injured After Dog Chases Cat Up Tree

Christine Roger Lovvorn, 108 Hillview Dr., Woodbury, was served a criminal summons to appear in Cannon County General Sessions Court on May 8 on a charge of Dog at Large.

The summons was obtained by Virginia Barrett on April 30.

Barrett alleges that on April 15, she and Jimmy Barrett were sitting in their backyard when a golden retriever began running after their cat. The dog chased the cat up a tree and then stood on the base of the tree as Virginia and Jimmy yelled at the dog.

The dog then went back to his home at 108 Hillview Dr.

Virginia then went to that residence and spoke with an individual the warrant names only as Victor, and asked that they keep the dog confined.

When Virginia returned home Jimmy informed her the cat was injured and could not walk. The cat’s left hand leg was injured.

Jimmy and Virginia took the cat to Dr. (Gayle) Tate (Cannon County Animal Clinic), where he had to perform surgery. The total amount of the veterinary care was $1,665.

The total does not include court costs and other veterinary expenses that have not occurred as of this incident, the summons states.
