Leonard George Young, age 95, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Adams Place Healthcare. He was a native of Cannon County and had lived in Rutherford County for the past fifty years. Leonard served as an elder for Smith Grove Church of Christ and Minerva Drive Church of Christ and was a self employed barber.

Leonard was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Alberta Davenport Young; son, Jimmy Wade Young; parents, Calvin and Sarah Catherine Scott Young and two brothers, Houston and Dalton Young.

He is survived by his son Roy (Virginia) Young of Hermitage, TN; daughter, Martha (Clyde) McCollough of Murfreesboro, TN; sister, Naomi Young Freidman of Jacksonville, FL; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and several nephews.

The funeral service was held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Jennings & Ayers Chapel with Ron Harper officiating. Burial followed the chapel service in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
