Services for Larry Hale, 64, of Short Mountain community, were held Tuesday, March 9, 2013, at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Ellis, Bro. Nick Pelham and Bro. Chad Hale officiating. Burial was in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

A Detroit, MI, native, Mr. Hale died Saturday, April 6, 2013 at DeKalb Community Hospital's emergency room.

Survivors include his daughters, Kristie and Charles Nokes and Shelia and Chris Ellis of the Short Mountain community; four grand-daughters, Olivia and Travis Neal, Lyndsey Miller, Ashlyn Ellis and Lilly Ellis; a great-granddaughter, Caroline Neal; and sibliings, Brenda and Gerald Motley, Harry and Eddena Hale and Marilyn Hale, all of the Short Mountain community.

Mr. Hale was preceded in death by his parents, Shelah (Duck) Hale and Jewell Bryson Hale Melton; his step-dad, Frank Melton; his wife, Brenda Hale and his brother, Freddy Hale.

He worked in maintenance at Federal-Mogul in Smithville and was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the Army and earning the Purple Heart.

Pallbearers were Roger Hindman, Steve Walker, Ronald Clayton, Frank Rogowski, Danny Hensley and Marvin Hale.

Thank you for all those nights of letting me watch you as a kid put in engines, transmissions, and about what every else needed fixing as long as it was a Chevy.
