Monday is Labor Day, the last national holiday of the summer. So employees can spend time with their friends and families, many businesses and government offices will close or alter their schedules. Local closures include:

• Schools. Students who attend Cannon County schools will get a break on both Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday will be a Professional Development Day for teachers.

• Town halls. The Woodbury and Auburntown town halls will be closed on Monday only.

• Courthouse. Most offices in the county courthouse, including the county executive’s office, will be closed.

• Libraries. The Adams Memorial Library will be closed.

• Cannon County Health Department. The health department will be closed.

• Government agencies which will be hard at work Monday include the police and sheriff's departments, the rescue squad, emergency medical services and fire departments.
