Kenneth "Ken" Albert McIntyre

Kenneth "Ken" Albert McIntyre, 76, of Woodbury, Tennessee departed this life on, January 6, 2014, after a long, hard fought battle with cancer.

Ken is survived by his wife, Artie Jean (Legan) McIntyre and two sons, Jay Scott McIntyre and wife, Sandra; granddaughter, Anneliese Hope McIntyre of Murfreesboro, TN; son, Bryan Keith McIntyre and granddaughter, Kayla Jean McIntyre of Bloomington, IN; a sister, Mary Elaine Burns of Texas and a younger brother, Arthur Wayne McIntyre of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur William McIntyre and Cora Ellen (Bethel) McIntyre; older brother, Frederick Lyle McIntyre, grandparents and all his aunts and uncles.

Ken was born the second of four children on August 15, 1937 in Isabella County, Michigan. After his father's death in 1943 the family moved to Clawson, Michigan. He and his siblings were raised by their mother and grandparents. He attended Troy and Clawson Schools. After high school he joined the U. S. Navy. While serving his country he studied engineering through the United States Armed Forces Institute (USFI). After leaving the Navy he studied design at Macomb County Community College. Then went on to study Engineering Change Management at Oakland University.

Ken and Artie Jean were married on May 11, 1963 at the Assembly of God Church in Ferndale, Michigan. He was employed by Art Industries and Modern Engineering before starting his career with General Motors and Product Design at the G. M. Truck plant in Pontiac, Michigan. He was transferred to the Saturn Corporation in 1987 as a senior design engineer. Then went on to accept the position of Senior Contact Engineer for the Saturn Manufacturing Plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee. He held that position until his retirement in 2002.

He enjoyed many hobbies, including writing and playing the banjo and guitar. He really enjoyed woodworking and working with tools. He was very handy and could tackle just about any project around the house.

While in Michigan, Ken and his family were members of the Immanuel Congregation Church of Christ in Oxford. He was also a leader in the Boy Scouts of America for 14 years. The family resided in Ortonville, Michigan before he transferred to Tennessee. They lived in Culleoka, Tennessee until his retirement. Then he moved his family to Woodbury, Tennessee.

He and Artie Jean were active members of the Woodbury Church of Christ. Ken also joined the Lions Club where he served his community for several years.

Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Friday, January 17th from 1-4 PM. Memorial services will be that same day at 4 PM in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home. His final resting place will be in Oxford, Michigan. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are requested to the Adams Memorial Library. Smith Funeral Home is entrusted with the services.
