Kate Davenport Mears, 94, Thursday, March 22, 2012 at her home in Murfreesboro.

A member of Methodist Church, Ms. Mears was a Food Service Manager for 15 years at McKendree.  Ms. Kate loved cooking, sewing and gardening but most of all she loved taking care of her family.

Survivors:

Daughter: Juanita Estes of Murfreesboro

Granddaughters:  Kathy Estes and Amy (William) Smitty both of Murfreesboro and Karen Anderson of Bradyville.

Great Grandchildren:  Alan (Maggie) Hale & Hope Smitty all of Murfreesboro

Sister-in-law:  Nina Davenport of Donelson/

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Thomas Davenport & Molly Lorance Davenport; her son, Charles Edward Mears; Brothers, Hogan, comer & I.C Davenport and her great granddaughter, Brittany Hale.

Funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation: From 2 pm – 9 pm Fri., March 23 and Sat. until time of  service

Pallbearers: Alan Hale, Rick Butcher, Rusty & James Ayers, Charles Ladd & Kendell Slate

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Caris Hospice.
