On Thursday, May 25, 2017, the Faculty and Staff of East Side School honored Mrs. Karen Wimberley, Principal, with a retirement dinner. In addition to the luncheon, she was presented with a beautiful hand-crafted card made by our Art Teacher, Ms. Wilma Arbaugh, and signed by all teachers and staff, and she was presented with gifts from all. Mrs. Wimberley's husband, Ronnie Wimberley, was also in attendance, and he presented her with a lovely vase of roses and various other flowers.

East Side holds a special place in her heart, as she attended elementary school for grades 1 - 8 at East Side. In addition to her years as a student, Mrs. Wimberley has served East Side School in the capacity of teacher, Vice-Principal, and Principal for the last 28 years. She was a classroom teacher for 23 years, 8 of which she also served as Vice-Principal. For the last 5 years, she has served as the Principal of East Side School. She will be greatly missed by all the teachers, staff, and students at East Side, but, as she stated in her final newsletter, the time has come for her to turn the page to another chapter of her life.
