Judge Melton Accepts Scores Of Guilty Pleas

Judge Susan Melton presided over an extremely busy day in Cannon County General Sessions Court on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. The results of some of the cases on the docket are as follows:

• William Keith Wilson pled guilty to Driving While License Suspended. He was placed on probation for 6 months, fined $50, assessed court costs and will lose his license for a period to be determined by the Tennessee Department of Safety. He also pled guilty to Simple Possession Of Schedule III Narcotics, was placed on probation for 11 months, 29 days, fined $750 and assessed court costs. The sentences will run concurrent.

• Patrick Dwayne Clark pled guilty to Domestic Assault. He was given a suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days and equal time on probation. He was also ordered to pay court costs, receive a Domestic Violence Inventory assessment, have no contact with the victims and to stay away from the premises where the incident occurred. Clark also pled guilty to Carrying A Weapon In A Public Place and received an 11 month, 29 day suspended sentence, equal probation time, was ordered to pay court costs and to forfeit the weapon. Clark also received a 30-day suspended sentence, equal time on probation and was assessed court costs for a guilty plea to Disorderly Conduct. He also admitted to guilt and entered into an agreed order of retirement for 11 months, 29 days on a charge of Aggravated Assault. His sentences will run concurrent.

• Rena Nanette Clemmons pled guilty to Driving While License Revoked 2nd Offense. She was given a partially suspended sentenced of 11 months, 29 days, ordered to serve 45 days in the county jail, placed on probation for 10 months, 14 days, fined $500 and assessed court costs. Her license was also suspended for one year.

• Jessie Harold Vinson, III  pled guilty to Reckless Endangerment, Simple Possession Of Marijuana and Implied Consent Law violation. He received partially suspended sentences of 11 month, 29 days, 7 days and jail and probation for 11 months, 29 days on the first two charges, along with fines of $535 and $250, respectively. His license was suspended for one year for violating implied consent. He was ordered to pay court costs on all three cases, which will run concurrent.

• Jacqueline Lynn Barrett pled guilty to Violation Of Probation and she was ordered to serve her original sentence of 6 months.

• Christopher Gayle Lorance pled guilty to DUI. He received a partially suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days, a 48-hour jail sentence, a $350 fines, was ordered to pay court costs and was placed on probation for 11 months, 29 days.

• David Allen Bedwell pled guilty to Violation Of Probation. He was ordered to serve 90 days in the Cannon County Jail and he will be placed back on probation for 19 months, 24 days upon release. Bedwell also admitted to guilt and entered into an agreed order of retirement for 11 months, 29 days on a charge of Evading Arrest.

• Billy Joe Griffith pled guilty to Violation Of Probation. He was ordered to serve his entire 11 month, 29 day sentence on the underlying charge of Simple Possession Of Marijuana.

• Devon Aaron Gunter, in court for Violation Of Probation, failed a drug screen and was remanded to the custody of the Cannon County Sheriff’s Department. Public Defender Ken McKnight was appointed to represent him and his case was reset for May 22.

• William Ronnie Hayes pled guilty to Attempted Domestic Assault. He received a 6 month suspended sentence, equal probation time, was ordered to undergo a DVI assessment, have no contact with the victim and pay court costs. Hayes also pled guilty to Hindering A Secured Creditor and received an 11 month, 29 day suspended sentence with equal probation time and was ordered to pay court costs and restitution.

• Samantha Hendricks pled guilty to Passing A Worthless Check. She received a partially suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days, was ordered to serve one day in jail, and was placed on probation for 11 months, 28 days. She was also ordered to pay court costs and restitution to the victim.

• Kayla Bree Hickey pled guilty to Violation Of Probation. She was ordered to serve 21 days in the county jail and her probation was extended for 11 months, 29 days.

• David Anthony Hillis pled guilty to Driving While License Suspended. He was placed on probation for 30 days, fined $2 and assessed court costs. A charge of Speeding (76/55) was dismissed without cost.

• Angel C. Howse pled guilty to Theft Of Property Under $500. She was sentenced to serve 6 months in the county jail, ordered to stay away from the premises where the incident occurred, and to pay court costs.

• Randy Wade Holden was given a partially suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days for his conviction on a charge of DUI 2nd Offense. He was ordered to serve 17 days in jail, 28 days in an inpatient treatment facility, pay a fine of $600 and court costs. His license was suspended for 2 years.

• Lori Ann Sullins pled guilty to Reckless Endangerment. She received a partially suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days, equal time on probation, 5 days in jail, a $525 fine and was assessed court costs. She must also attend DUI Safety School.

• Joseph Matthews Starnes pled guilty to VOP. He was ordered to serve 34 days and his probation was extended 4 months, 25 days.

• Todd Alan Whitmore pled guilty to two counts of Driving While License Suspended 2nd Offense. Sentencing was set for July 24.

• Jeremy Lee Johnson pled guilty to Violation Of Probation. He was ordered to serve 30 days in jail and upon release will be back on probation for 10 months, 29 days.

• Kerry M. Jordan pled guilty to Disorderly Conduct. He was placed on probation for 30 days, fined $50 and assessed court costs.

• Richard Chase Thomas pled guilty to Disorderly Conduct. He was placed on probation for 30 days, fined $50 and assessed court costs.

• Candace Dawn Laxton pled guilty to Violation Of Probation. She was ordered to serve 14 days in the county jail and her probation was extended for 11 months, 25 days.

• Larry Dean Leftwich pled guilty to Violation Of Probation and was ordered to serve his original sentence of 11 months, 29 days on the underlying charge of Vandalism.

• Gina E. Lowe entered into an agreed order or retirement for 6 months on a charge of Fraudulent Receipt Of EBT Card. She was ordered to pay the litigation tax. She must return to court on July 24 if the tax is not paid by then.

• Kevin Gene Ohler pled guilty to Violation Of Probation. He was placed back on probation for 11 months, 29 days.

• Cody Leon Parks pled guilty to Speeding (70/55). He was fined $2 and assessed court costs.

• William Ross Prater admitted to guilt and entered into an agreed order of retirement for 11 months, 29 days on a charge of Underage Consumption. He was also ordered to pay court cost.

• Dewey Raymond pled guilty to Violation Of Probation. He was ordered to serve 60 days in jail. His probation was extended for 13 months, 29 days.

• Thomas Wade Reed pled guilty to Possession Of A Schedule II Narcotic. He was sentenced to 45 days in jail, fined $750, assessed court costs and placed on probation for 10 months, 14 days. Reed also pled guilty to Phone Harassment, was ordered to serve 45 days, pay court costs and was placed on probation for 10 months, 14 days. He also pled guilty to Violation Of Probation. He was ordered to serve 45 days in the county jail. He will be back on probation for 33 months upon release. The sentences run concurrent.

• Andrew Michael Seymour pled guilty to Violation Of Probation. His probation was extended for 11 months and he was ordered to pay court costs, fines and restitution as directed. 

• John Clarence Jones was appointed Public Defender Ken McKnight on charges of DUI 5th Offense and DWLR 2nd Offense and the cases were reset for June 19.

• Mitsie I. Rodriquez had a charge of Speeding reset for May 29.

• Dallas Jay Rogers had charges of Domestic Assault and VOP reset for May 1.

• Jenny Morris Rose had charged of Leaving The Scene Of A Property Damage Accident and Financial Responsibility reset for June 19.

• Michael Joe Sanders had charges of Driving While License Revoked 8th Offense and Failure To Appear continued. He was also served a Violation Of Probation warrant.

• Pleas Edward Schultz had a charge of DUI By Consent reset for May 15.

• Shirley Ann Shannon was appointed Public Defender Ken McKnight, assessed an administrative fee of $50 and had a charge of DUI By Consent reset for May 15.

• Kory Lyndell Smith was unable to appear on a VOP charge as he is incarcerated in Rutherford County. A new court date will be set.

• Randall Clark Smotherman had a charge of Public Intoxication reset for June 5.

• Brian Alan Stafford had a Worthless Check charge reset for June 5.

• Jason William Thomason was appointed Public Defender Ken McKnight on a charge of Violation Of Probation and his case was reset for June 19.

• Joshua Lee Underwood had a charge of Violation Of Probation reset for June 19.

• John David Wallace, Jr. was appointed Public Defender Ken McKnight on charges of  VOP and Perjury and his cases were reset for May 22.

• Alexander Kirk Webb was appointed an attorney on charges of Initiating The Process To Manufacture Methamphetamine and Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia and the cases were reset for May 15.

• Nathan Daniel Horn applied for judicial diversion on charges of Domestic Assault and Possession Of Marijuana and his cases were reset for May 15.

• Beverly Sue Adamson, charged with DUI 1st and Speeding (40/20), was reset for June 19.

• Connie Gale Ashford Chapman, charged with DUI and Implied Consent Law violation, was reset for May 15.

• Ricky Lee Bain had charges of DUI 4th and DWLR 2nd reset for June 19.

• Steven J. Ballard, charged with Violation Of Probation, failed to appear. A Capias was issued for his arrest.

• Shannon Lee Blythe, charged with Simple Possession Of Methamphetamine, failed to appear. A Capias was issued.

• Ernest Shane Bogle, charged with Driving While License Suspended, was reset for June 12.

• Romanda E. Butcher demonstrated she had complied with all the requirements of retirement on a charge of Contributing To Delinquency Of A Minor.

• Tonia Fletcher failed to appear on a retirement review for Contributing To The Delinquency Of A Minor. A Show Cause was issued.

• Maurice Randall Glimps has a Driving While License Revoked charge continued until July 24.

• Kevin Mac Cope had a Simple Possession Of Marijuana charged bound over to the May Term of the Cannon County Grand Jury.

• Lisa Gaye Croasmun had a Worthless Check charge dismissed without cost.

• Gary Eubanks failed to appear on charges of Aggravated Burglary and Theft Under $1,000. It was learned he is incarcerated in Rutherford County.

• John Steven Goins failed to appear on charges of Speeding (58/45), Opening Container and Financial Responsibility. A Show Cause was issued for his arrest.

• Lavy Jennine Little failed to appear on a Speeding charge. A court summons was issued.

• Ryan Herron failed to appear on a charge of Passing Worthless Checks. A Show Cause Order was issued.

• Mark Wayne Peterson, charged with Driving While License Suspended 2nd Offense, was reset for July 24.

• Wanda Daily Jackson had a charge of Driving While License Suspended 2nd Offense dismissed after providing proof she had a valid license at the time of the traffic stop.

• Lillian F. Jernigan had a charge of DUI By Consent reset for June 19.

• Raymond Earl McVay, Jr. failed to appear on a Reckless Endangerment charge. A Show Cause was issued.

• Rafael Castillo Madellin had a Violation Of Probation charge reset for July 24.

• Thomas Avent Muncy had charges of DUI, Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia (two counts) and Seatbelt Law reset for June 19.
