Juanita V. (Melton) Smith



Juanita V. (Melton) Smith, 86, of McMinnville, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at her home following an extended illness.

A native of Cannon County, she was a Nurses Aide and attended Bethel Hill Baptist .

Smith was born June 11, 1924 in Cannon Co. the eighth child of George E. and Audie Eskel “Es” (Saddler) Melton.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Haskell Hall Smith and children, Billy & Kenneth Smith and Peggy Adams.  Also preceded in death by her grandchildren, Lucinda King, Brian Henderson and Billy Dodd and her son-in-law, Frank Dodd.  Preceded also by siblings and their spouses, Lola (Frank) Henegar, Grady (Magdalene Roberts) Melton, Bertha (Ed) Sneed, Margie (Lib) Turner, Clyde (Eula Kennedy) Melton, Mae (Bill) Underwood, Goldie (James) Allison, Ruth Melton and Ree Brady.

She is survived by brother-in-law, Sam Brady of Sparta; Children, Barbara (Orby C.) Graves of Cottontown, Myrna Kent of Springfield, Jean Dodd of Castillion Springs, Brenda (Dean) Crotzer of White House, Linda (Paul) Lane of Goodlettsville, Becky (Terry) Henderson of Morrison, Shirley (Jackie) Best and Tammy (Marcus) King of McMinnville and Son-in-law, John Adams of Goodlettsville; Special Caregiver, Granddaughter, Becky Prater of Centertown.  She is survived by 26 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.  Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be Thursday,  Sept. 23, from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 24, from 10 am until time of service.

Funeral services will be in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home  at 1 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2010 with Bros. Jerry Smith, Tommy Lusk and John Padgett officiating.

Interment will be in Blues Hill Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers:  Chris Brown, Jimmy, Larry & Michael Kent, J.T. Best, Robert & John Stevenson and Kenneth King.
