Joseph and his Technicolor Coat opens

The 2013 Season at the Arts Center of Cannon County continues with a musical that's always a family favorite.
Scheduled for 3 weekends, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat began on Friday, November 8 and runs through Saturday, November 23.

Performances are Friday, Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

Straight from the Book of Genesis, Joseph tells the tale of the young prophet Joseph (portrayed by Arts Center favorite David Alan Winton), and his fateful journey as the favored son of his father, Jacob. He is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers, and after a stint of impressive dream-translations, finds himself at the top with Pharaoh the king. The role of the Narrator will be shared by two outstanding performers, Kerri Kairdolf and Mary Ellen Smith.

Directed by Michael McGee and produced by Rachael Parker, Joseph features a stellar cast of wacky and distinctive characters, including Joseph's father Jacob (Richard Stickney), the sophisticated millionaire Potiphar (John Barker) and an Elvis-like Pharaoh (Sam Wright). Perhaps the most versatile characters in the show are Joseph's eleven jealous brothers portrayed by Matt Smith (Reuben), Howard Snyder (Simeon), Josh Issac (Levi), David Hidgon (Napthali), John House (Issacchar), Earle Gresham (Asher), T'Avis Rogers (Dan), Gerald Oliver (Zebulon), Michael Higdon (Gad), James Bessant (Benjamin), and Fredrick McClure (Judah). Rounding out the cast is Terrie Kirby as Potiphar's wife and Matt Henry as the Baker. The ensemble includes Allie Collins, Hannah Collins, Tricia Hiers, Jonathan Higdon, Susan Higdon, Kait Kloss, Kalonda Lancaster, Melody Rutledge, Rae Lynn Stickney, Delanie Sullivan, and Heather Willow. Also featured are 16 area children performing in the children's choir.

The performance schedule for all shows is Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 with discounts available for students, seniors and groups and may be purchased by calling the Arts Center box office at 615-563-(ARTS) 2787 or 1-800-235-9073.
