John William Tigert, Jr., died Monday, August 16, 2010 at Centennial Medical Center following an extended illness.

A native of Houston, Texas, he was a resident of Woodbury and a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his father, John W. Tigert Sr., and a sister, Phyllis Grogan.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Chumbley Tigert of Woodbury; son, Dylan Mills of Montana; mother, Johnnie Faye Pierce Gunnels of Porter, Texas; two brothers, Glenn Tigert and Joe (Kathy) Tigert of Texas; two sisters, Sandy Russo and Karen (William) Baughn of Texas; parents-in-law, Billy and Sue Chumbley of Woodbury; sisters-in-law, Lorraine (Charles) Yancy of McMinnville and Ellen (Thomas) Mears of Woodbury.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Friday. August 20 at Woodbury Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 4:30 p.m. at Gunter-Grizzle Cemetery with Bro. Herb Alsup officiating.
