JOHN U. BASINGER FOR CANNON COUNTY PROPERTY ASSESSOR
August 4, 2016
"AN EXPERIENCED PUBLIC SERVANT"

Thanks to Donald Preston and and assistant
Angela Schwartz for their many years of
outstanding service as Property Assessors!

MY EXPERIENCES As A PUBLIC SERVANT....
Served as Cannon Cannon 4-H Youth Agent for twenty years assisting hundreds of Cannon County youths and families to have a better life by participating in life skills, receiving numerous awards, learning about their world by being involved in proect activities and out of state trips, hosting Japanese students and meeting 4-Hers in other counties and states. Cannon County youth won numerous District, State and the first National Winner, and several to follow, awards and went on to become school teachers, lawyers, farmers, dairymen, and other outstanding Citizens and Community Leaders. I also served in Rutherford as Youth Agent for fourteen Years.

Served thirty seven years in the Active U.S.Army and Tennessee Army National Guard. Leadership abilility earned me promotions from Private to Full Colonel. As logistical officer I was in charge at the time of millions of dollars worth of government property. I was responsible for Maintenance and Appraisal for repairs. While seving as an officer I earned my troops respect by taking care of them and rewarding those who tried to support the mission not just by my rank.

Earned a B.S. at Tenn Tech and a M.S. at UTK in Agriculture and I have the ability to evaluate land for various production capabilities. The Green Belt exempt law and want others to be exempted if they qualified that law. I admire all the outstanding Farmers, Dairyman, Ranchers, Commerical Garders located in Cannon County. I will assist them and any property owners with respect and will be out and around to answer their questions. I have also been a dairymen and farmer and paid for my two degrees by working as a college milker and raising baby calves at both universities.

Over the years of my life in Cannon County I have always been a church member, currently a member of Cornerstone Community Church. God is first in my life followed by love for my four adult children and seven grandchildren, and fellow members of this community. I am a member of the Woodbury Lions Club, American Legion Post 279, a apprentice Mason member, Elected Board member of the Cannon County Senior Citizen Board and a 4-H Program Volunteer, Elected to the Tenn Tech School of Agriculture Board, Volunteer for the Active and Reserve Military in finding employment and solving Civil Job Problems. I have been a missionary to Haiti, and always involved in assisting low income families of Cannon County. I still care and assist Cannon youth by being a substitute school teacher and youth church teacher.

I am asking to serve as the Cannon County Property Assessor because I care for all families in Cannon that own property and being able to receive a reasonable appraisal as required by state law and tax rate assigned by the County Commisson. I will always be available to discuss and talk to property owners about property tax concerns. I know how to relate to others because of my age, life experiences and I am a property owner. I also want low income citizens to be exempted from having property taxes raised from year to year. Also if elected there will be no changes in the Property Office personnel if they choose to remain employed in the office.
.
Thanks for your consideration and for voting for me for the next Cannon County Property Assessor PAID FOR BY JOHN BASINGER
