Joe A. Tenpenny, Jr.

Joe A. Tenpenny, Jr., age 83, passed away in Knoxville, TN on May 29, 2016. Born in Woodbury, TN November 28, 1932, Mr. Tenpenny was preceeded in death by parents Joe A. Tenpenny, Sr. and Mattie Bowman Tenpenny, wife of 46 years Lucy Francis Tenpenny, brothers Thomas E. Tenpenny and Dorris Tenpenny. Survived by his son, Terry Lynn Tenpenny and wife, Lynnda, brother, Wayne Tenpenny and wife, Carlene, sisters, Irene Stone and Martha Glandon and husband, Jack, brother and sister-in-law, Claymon and Faye Francis, brother-in-law, Steve Francis, plus nieces and nephews.

He was a graduate of Woodbury High, MTSU, and Nashville School of Law. Joe served 15 years in the Army Reserve reaching the rank of Captain. Joe moved to Knoxville in 1974 and retired from State Farm Insurance as Auto Claims Superintendent. He was very active in the Gideon's International and at Ball Camp Baptist Church in Knoxville.

Family will receive friends at Woodbury Funeral Home, 504 W. Main Street, Woodbury, TN 37190, 6-8 pm on Tuesday, May 31. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 1 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Fox officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Gardens.
