Jennifer Tuten Named Woodland School and West Side School Assistant Principal

WOODBURY - Mrs. Jennifer Nicole "Niki" Tuten has been named as the Assistant Principal for Woodland School in Bradyville, TN and West Side School in Readyville, TN. Mrs. Tuten was selected after the Cannon County Board of Education passed a motion last Spring to add the position for the two schools. She will serve at Woodland School on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and Tuesday and Thursday at West Side School. The position was funded by the Cannon County Board of Education in the ensuing budget process this past Summer.

Woodland School Principal Mrs. Angela Cossey and West Side School Principal Mrs. Karen King interviewed several very qualified individuals for the Assistant Principal position. The Principals stated, "We have done extensive research into Mrs. Tuten's background, and she seems to bring experience in several areas that will serve our schools well, support teachers, and further student achievement."

Mrs. Tuten has six years of teaching experience, 2 years in Marshall County, TN and four years in Warren County, TN in Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades and also taught 5th grade math. She is currently working towards her Doctorate Degree in Leadership through The University of the Cumberlands with the hopes of being finished at the end of 2019. She received her Ed.S in Administration and Supervision from MTSU in May 2018, Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Bethel University in July 2014, Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies with K-6 teacher license in December 2012, and she attended Motlow State Community College with an Associates of Applied Science in Teaching and Associates of Science in Sociology.

Director of Schools Mr. William F. Curtis stated, "Woodland School Principal Mrs. Angela Cossey and West Side School Principal Mrs. Karen King recommended to me that Mrs. Tuten be the new Assistant Principal for the schools after interviewing several excellent applicants. I have accepted their recommendations and Mrs. Tuten will begin her new duties as soon as possible. Mrs. Tuten has excellent educational credentials, experiences, and excellent recommendations from her Principal and Director of Schools. We wish her all the best as she begins her tenure in this unique position as Assistant Principal for two of our schools in Cannon County to prepare all the Woodland School and West Side School students for their future by engaging in excellence every day."
