Mr. James W. Walden, Sr. age 78 of Manchester, Tennessee passed away Monday evening, March 21, 2011at his home with his family by his side. He was a retired carpenter and Baptist minister. A native of South Pittsburg he was born on October 24, 1932, a son of the late Jake and Lorene Scott Walden and was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Marie Walden in 2007. Mr. Walden was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran..

Survivors include his wife, Elsie Smith Walden, Manchester; children, James, Jr."Dooner"(Ann) Walden, Jasper, Janice (Houston) Ward, Flowood. MS, Sherry (Danny) Fults, Tracy City, Sandra Smartt, Manchester, Jeff Walden, Tullahoma, Billy (Valerie) Walden, Ft. Belvoir, VA; step-daughter, Debbie (Mickey) Zerio, Hartford, Conn.; niece, Bessie (Mark) Moran; great niece, Trish Anthony; 13 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren and 1 step- great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were 2:00 P.M. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Matthew Meeks and Reverend Richard Williams officiating.. Burial was in Orme Mountain Cemetery, South Pittsburg with military honors. The family received friends 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Arrangements were by Cumberland Funeral Home, 207 Mabee Avenue, Monteagle, Tennessee, 931-924-2381.
