Mr. James Leo Barrett, age 94, died Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Woodbury Health Care Center following an extended illness. He was a native of Cannon County and was preceded in death by his parents the late James Nathaniel and Dora Hattie Alexander Barrett and step mother, Rilla Borren Barrett; his wife, Lora Helen Rogers Barrett and his siblings, Phemia Howeth, Nell Milligan, Rachel Graham and Bragg Barrett.
Leo is survived by his siblings, Bobby (Martha) Barrett and Sue (James) Knox all of Woodbury; special nieces, Joy (Carl) Jones of Woodbury and Mettie Lou (William) Money of Murfreesboro. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the Smith Grove Church of Christ and a veteran of WW II, serving in the Army. Leo was retired from the Alvin C. York Medical Center and was a farmer. He enjoyed working in his garden, both flowers and vegetables.
Funeral services were 2:00 PM Sunday, November 9 at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Herb Alsup officiating. Internment followed at Cherry Cemetery.
