Jack Dempsey West, 75, died Friday, March 19, 2010 at Stones River Hospital following an extended illness.

A native of Cannon County and Woodbury resident, he was retired from the VA Hospital after 30 years, an Army paratrooper during the Korean War, and a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margie Foster West of Woodbury; three sons, Darrell and Bryan West, both of Woodbury, and Mark C. (Melissa) West of Murfreesboro; two sisters, Helen Alexander of Woodbury and Ruth (Jack) Pugh of Liberty; a brother, W.C. West of Murfreesboro; a brother-in-law, James Bush of MI; and six grandchildren, Whitney, Will and Matthew West, Amanda and Addy Boisseau and Alicia Beckett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cling and Lena Todd West; sisters, Dorothy Earls and Wavel Bush, brother-in-law, Milton Alexander and sister-in-law, Sara West.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 22, in the chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Earl Sutton officiating. Burial will be in Leoni Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 until 8 p.m. Sunday, March 21.
