INSIDE CANNON SCHOOLS: Welcome Back!

BARBARA PARKER, Director of Schools

Sept. 1, 2011

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I want to take this opportunity to welcome you and your children back to school. I know I speak for the entire Board of Education when I say we are happy to have you and your family as part of the Cannon County School District.

We will be starting this year with an expected enrollment of 2100 students in Prek-12th grade. Supporting those students will be approximately 300 staff members who include teachers, counselors, administrators, secretaries, bus drivers, custodians, assistants, maintenance and cooks.

I can assure you that while students were enjoying their summer, custodial and maintenance employees were busy getting the schools ready for their return. Technology and curriculum employees were preparing teaching materials and technology for the classrooms. Teachers were preparing wonderful lessons to share with your child.

The district’s major focus during the coming year will be that of providing your children the best education we can in order to assure they will be career or college-ready when they graduate.

I want to encourage you to get involved with your children’s schools or on an advisory committee at the district level. Your donation of valuable time and talent will be most appreciated.

We hope this school year will be a good one for your family. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if there is any way we can be of help to you or your children.  The Cannon County Board of Education number is 615-563-5752.

Sincerely,
Barbara N. Parker, Director of Schools
