Inmates Begin GED Program

On November 25, 2009 the GED program at the Cannon County Jail began with six male inmates participating in the program. The initial portion of the program was for each inmate to write an essay which was collected two days later.

Two inmates were tested on Writing and Reading on November 28. Other inmates were tested on November 28.

On December 3 three female inmates also were given the task of writing an essay which was collected December 7th. These females were tested on Reading and Writing on December 8.

A total of nine inmates are currently participating in the GED program. The groups are working on reading skills, computer usage and math skills.
