Inez Carter, age 88 of the Hollow Springs community in Cannon County passed away August 10, 2015 at Community Care of Rutherford County.

Mrs. Carter was married to and dearly loved by her husband of 45 years the late Stanton Carter. She was also preceded in death by her parents, William and Dollie Lewis Parker and two sisters, Opal Duke and Louzetta Basham all of Cannon County. She is survived by her children, Larry & Nancy Carter of Christiana and Larraine & Steve Simmons of Murfreesboro; 3 Grandchildren: Dwight and Curtis Carter and Megan Davis; 5 Great Grandchildren: Mataya, Campbell and Nathaniel Carter, Houston & Carolina Davis all of Murfreesboro.

During her life Mrs. Carter was an accomplished seamstress and also enjoyed gardening, quilting, crochet and listening to gospel music. She was a member of the Simmons Chapel Free Methodist Church where she was a children's Sunday school teacher for many years.

Visitation will be Thursday August 13 from 4 pm to 8 pm and funeral services Friday August 14 at 2 pm in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Gilley Hill Cemetery. Bro. Bobby Wheeler, Bro. Al Buckta and Bro. John Jones will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gilley Hill Cemetery Trust Fund %Woodbury Funeral Home.

The family gratefully acknowledges the compassionate care of the staff at CCRC and Alive Hospice.
