The Cannon County Sheriff's Department is investigating two recent reports of thefts.

• Cannon County Sheriff's Deputy Mike Smith was dispatched to 5614 Hollow Springs Road on Oct. 14 to take a report of a theft. Upon arrival he spoke with Cody Burnett, who stated he left his home and drove to the Dollar General Store in Manchester to meet his girlfriend. Burnett said his girlfriend, Samantha Flowers, followed him back to his house. When they arrived the front door was open. They walked inside, went to his room, and found his flat screen TV was missing. They went to his parent's room, the jewelry box was open, and items were scattered everywhere. Burnett noticed footprints on the carpet.

• Deputy Brandon Gullett was dispatched to 683 George Scott Road on Oct. 5 to take a report for theft. Upon arrival he was met by John Ruhl, who stated that sometime between 9 p.m. on Oct. 4 and 6 a.m. that day someone had stolen items from his barn at 935 George Scott Road. They went to the barn and Ruhl showed the deputy the where the items, strands of wire and horseshoes, had been located.   Deputy Gullett contact the two local salvage yards and asked them to contact him if anyone brought in horseshoes.
