Homeless Awareness Month proclaimed

Homeless Awareness Month proclaimed

November was proclaimed Tennessee Homeless Awareness and Prevention Month by County Executive Mike Gannon.
Pictured with Mayor Gannon is Rachael Goddard of Homeless Advocacy for Rural TN.

As we enter into a holiday season when we give thanks for our blessings and share with those whom we love and those in need, it is appropriate to reach out and work together to end the blight of homelessness.

This proclamation is being made to help send a message that it is time to end homelessness and implore the citizens of our cities and counties to get involved.
Not only is there a concentrated effort to end homelessness for everyone, there is a special national push to end veteran homelessness by the end of this year and our chronically homeless by the end of 2016. Homelessness is not just a problem in our large cities; many of our rural counties face the same issue.
So what can you do to help? Reach out to your local agencies who are already in the fight against homelessness.

If you are in a community which the homeless have nowhere to turn and you have resources or time to help, please contact Homeless Advocacy for Rural Tennessee. Their contact information is at www.hartn.org.
