Home Sweep Home For Cannon County



After openings the season with two straight road contents, the Cannon County High basketball teams played at home for the first time Monday night.

The Lionettes rolled to their third straight win with a 75-53 victory over Coffee County. Four players scored in double digits for the Cannon girls.

Ashley Campbell and Chelsey Payne led the way with 15 points apiece. Emily Sissom and Lindsey Reed each tallied 10 points.


Rouding out the scoring were Lauren Ruehlen with 9; Erica Melton 5; Shelby Jordan 5; Taylor King 4; Abby Jakes 2.

In boys action, Jared Nave poured in 23 points to lead the Lions to a 72-62 win over the Raiders.

The close contest saw Coffee County grap a 17-15 lead after one quarter before the Lions came back to take a 32-30 halftime advantage. Cannon County led 45-42 at the end of the third period before pulling away in the final stanza with a 27-19 run.

Justin Davenport was also in double figures for Cannon County wirh 18 points. Cody Ruehlen and T.J. Mitchell eached scored 8; Ethan Womack 7; Andrew Woodin 6 and Colin Jones 2.
