Hollis Sentenced To 16 Years For Aggravated Kidnappings

A Woodbury man will have 16 years in the state penitentiary to think about his actions on Christmas Eve 2010.

Johnny Brian Hollis entered no contest pleas to two counts of Aggravated Kidnapping in Cannon County Circuit Court on Monday, April 2.

Judge Don Ash sentenced Hollis, who was out on parole at the time of the incident, to serve 16 years in state prison on each count. The sentences will run concurrently. However, they will run consecutively to the sentence for parole violation Hollis is already serving.

On Dec. 24, 2010, Hollis was charged by the Woodbury Police Department with aggravated rape, aggravated kidnapping, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and prohibited possession of a weapon.

He had been released on parole from the Tennessee Department of Corrections on Dec. 6 of that year. He had been in prison after being convicted on a charge of voluntary manslaughter in November 2004 after he beat a man to death in Davidson County.

According to the WPD, during the Christmas Eve 2010 incident Hollis imprisoned two women while holding them at bay with a machete. One of the women managed to escape without harm; however, the other victim was raped.

Hollis resisted officers when they went to his home to arrest him on the charges.

In exchange for the pleas to the kidnappings, the other charges were dropped.
