It's History Hayride time again at Edgar Evins State Park, Silver Point, and reservations are in full swing for the October 10th event.

Last year's weather was a disappointment for everyone but it was the only time in nine years we had to cancel the event and refund to all. We can't control the weather but we can guarantee you a great 10th History Hayride line-up this year! We will have some new characters at 11 stops on the wagons circuit, including a midwife played by Crystal Young, and a Paleo-Indian Woman played by Holly Taylor. Some old favorites are being brought back with new people playing them, including the Black Widow of Hazel Green by Lori Christensen and Luke Denney, Moonshine Hauler, by Gerald Melton. Even the former Park Manager, Carl Halfacre, will come back from retirement to portray a surprising character from the local history. The price is still $15 per person, with wagons scheduled to leave and return from the Visitors Center about every 30 minutes from 1:30 until 7 p.m.

On-line reservations are easy to make at www.tnvacation.com/events/9216 If you need help making reservations phone the park office at (931) 858-2114 or toll free at 1-800-250-8619 for contact information for Fount Bertram, President of Friends of Edgar Evins State Park. Visit http://foeesp.alturl.com or the Facebook page for Friends of Edgar Evins State Park (friendsofeesp) for more information.

This is not a Halloween themed event and is not suitable for small children or anyone unable to sit quietly during the approximately two hour ride.
The Galley Restaurant at Edgar Evins Marina will be open and will offer a 10% discount to hayride patrons the day of the event upon showing a printout of the reservation or the armband.

ALSO - You might wish to note that the Annual Fall Color Boat Cruise will be on Sat., Oct. 31st at 1 p.m. to about 3:30 p.m. instead of in early November. Reservations for the boat cruise will open October 1st. The link for that is www.tnvacation.com/events/9218. Price still $15 per person. Sorry, no children under age 3 years on the boats.

For GPS users the address of the park is 1630 Edgar Evins Park Road, Silver Point, TN 38582. It is located approximately 20 miles north of Smithville, 20 miles west of Cookeville and 60 miles east of Nashville. From I-40 take exit 268 at State Highway 96 and Center Hill Lake.
Campsites and cabins are available at the park for those wishing to stay overnight or the weekend. The website for lodging reservations is http://www.tn.gov/environment/parks/reservations
