Friday marked plea day for those persons indicted by the May, 2010 term of the Cannon County Grand Jury.

In addition to being arraigned, some defendants chose to use Friday as an opportunity to enter guilty pleas. Those defendants pleading guilty and receiving prison sentences during Friday’s session included:

Jeremy Thomas pled guilty to the charges of tampering with evidence and criminal attempt to initiate the process to manufacture methamphetamine. He received a total prison sentence of 6 years and was fined $7,500.00. A suspended sentence hearing was set for August 20th.

Jessie Lance Scott pled guilty to the charge of promotion of the manufacture of methamphetamine. He was sentenced to 2 years in prison and fined $2,000.00. A suspended sentence hearing was set for August 20th.

Joseph P. Brinkley pled guilty to the charge of promotion of the manufacture of methamphetamine. He was sentenced to 2 years in prison and fined $2,000.00. A suspended sentence hearing was set for August 20th.

Thomas Clay Davis pled guilty to the charges of tampering with evidence and criminal attempt to initiate the process to manufacture methamphetamine. He received a prison sentence of 6 years and was fined $7,500.00. A suspended sentence hearing was set for August 20th.

Thomas, Scott, Brinkley and Davis were all arrested together earlier this year after Cannon County Sheriff’s Deputies discovered a rolling methamphetamine lab in their vehicle as it was traveling through Cannon County. Thomas, Scott and Davis have been held in lieu of $100,000.00 bond since their arrest and Brinkley is free on $100,000.00 bond.

At the suspended sentence hearing on August 20th Judge Ash will decide whether the four will be placed on probation or ordered to serve their entire prison sentence.

Those arraigned during Friday’s session included:

Katherine Y. Goodman for two counts of sale of schedule 2 drugs and maintaining a dwelling to keep, use or sell schedule drugs,

Gregory Jason Porter for two counts of sale of schedule 4 drugs and maintaining a dwelling to keep, use or sell schedule drugs,

George Manus for sale of schedule 3 drugs, two counts of casual exchange of schedule drugs and maintaining a dwelling to keep, use or sell schedule drugs,

Donna Falkenback for two counts of sale of schedule 4 drugs and maintaining a dwelling to keep, use or sell drugs,

Michael Sanders for driving while license revoked 4th offense, speeding and insurance law,

Wendy Marie Thomas and Allison Danielle Church for promotion of the manufacture of methamphetamine and initiation of the process to manufacture methamphetamine,

Kirk Wayne Wilson for driving under the influence, violation of the implied consent law, driving while license revoked and driving while a habitual motor vehicle offender,

Misty Nissa Rutledge for promotion of the manufacture of methamphetamine,

Robert A. Deffendoll and Camren J. Deffendoll for burglary and theft over $500.00,

Jonathan W. Johnson for theft and aggravated burglary,

The next step in the process for these defendants is plea day which will take place on either July 9th or August 20th, depending on the individual defendant. On that day, the defendants will be asked to enter formal pleas of guilty or not guilty to their charges.
