Herman Monte York Jr.

Herman Monte York Jr, born on May 3, 1936, went to be with the Lord on January 29, 2016. He was the son of Herman M. and Archie York Sr. who preceded him in death. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he worked for Binford Ford which was later Alexander Ford in Murfreesboro, then Beaman Ford Lincoln Mercury in Nashville. He retired from Teledyne in 1999. Herman was a member of the Church of Christ at Leanna.

Herman is also preceded in death by two brothers, Leslie and James York; and two sisters, Ruthie Bell Edwards and Hazel Underwood.

Herman is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years Darla York; daughter, Beverly (Michael) Barrett of Woodbury; son, Dwayne York (Shari Graves); four grandchildren, Angela (Anthony) Pitts, Noah (Jessica) Barrett, Monty York (Kristina Brinkley), and Shawn York; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; one brother, Henry York of Somerset, KY.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Linda Victory who has been by their side through it all!

The funeral service for Herman will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Jennings and Ayers with Kevin Dye officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Nephews will serve as active pallbearers. Friends will serve as Honorary pallbearers.
