The Area Agency on Aging and Disability(AAAD), a division of the Upper Cumberland Development District, has organized an Adult Brief Drive for the month of April to benefit seniors in the Upper Cumberland.

Two Cookeville businesses are serving as donation sites for the Adult Brief Drive. Larco Pharmacy on Willow Ave. is serving as a donation site and is offering 25% off of purchased adult incontinence products to be donated in the Adult Brief Drive. The coupon is available at www.ucdd.org. Walgreens' locations on Washington Ave. and on Willow Ave. are also serving as donation sites.

According to the data reported on the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 50.9% of non-institutionalized persons aged 65 and over reported incontinence. The cost of adult incontinence protection, including absorbent pads and other protection, is roughly $100 per month and most insurance companies do not cover this expense.

Since many of those individuals who need incontinence products fall below the poverty level, are disabled or live on a fixed income, buying protection can be difficult. AAAD is wanting to help those individuals and is hoping to do so by raising awareness and receiving donations from the community in the Adult Brief Drive. All adult incontinence products received will be given to seniors in the Upper Cumberland.You can find additional information and available coupons for participating locations at www.ucdd.org. Donation suggestions are sizes medium, large or extra large disposable briefs or disposable bed pads. The drive will continue until April 30, 2015. Please stop by one of the donation sites today.
