Hayden Bryson this week announces his candidacy for the office of Cannon County Circuit Court Clerk subject to the voters in the August 7, 2014 General Election.

Bryson, a life-long resident of Cannon County, retired in 2012 as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He is also a Realtor and auctioneer  for Bob Parks Realty & Auction Co. in Murfreesboro. Prior to his affiliation with the Parks Group he was with former local real estate agency Parsley & Todd.

“I’m eager to serve the citizens of Cannon County in this capacity and promise that I will conduct the office with professionalism, honesty and integrity, Bryson stated. “This office has grown in case load over the past few years and serves the courts of Juvenile, General Sessions, Circuit and Chancery.”

Bryson’s grandfather, the late Henry H. Smith, served as Circuit Clerk from 1922-1934 (the office was a two year term at this time). Smith’s brother, the late J.T. (Tip) Smith was elected to six two-year terms as Sheriff from 1934-1948. (In 1934 Sheriff J. B. Hollandsworth died and Smith was appointed to fill out his term until the next election.)

“I look forward to getting out in the community and visiting with as many people as possible before the election. I want to take this opportunity to ask the citizens of Cannon County for their vote and support on August 7th”, Bryson added.

Bryson is the son of the late Ike and Myra Smith Bryson. His family consists of his son,  Andy (Katrina) Bryson and grandson, Wyatt of Murfreesboro; his brother,  former owner/editor of the Cannon Courier Andy (Patricia) Bryson;  sister, Susan (Charles) Sain of Bradyville and nephew Robert (Amy) Sain and their three daughters of Murfreesboro.

A graduate of Woodbury Central High School and MTSU, Bryson is a member of the Smith Grove Church of Christ and was recently appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of The Arts Center of Cannon County.
