NEW ALBANY, MS -- Mr. James Havis Morton, age 94, left this earth and joined our Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 13, 2018. He was born July 22, 1923, in Ecru, MS to James Allen Morton and Beulah Bigham Morton. Mr. Morton was a member of First Baptist Church in New Albany, MS; First Baptist Church of Woodbury, TN; and Alta Woods Baptist Church in Jackson, MS.

He was retired after 42 years of service in several operations of Armour & Company. He was manager of Armour Creameries Cheese Plant in New Albany, MS and Assistant Manager in Woodbury, TN; as well as, Comptroller in Jackson, MS with AC Quality Farms; and ended his service as an Internal Auditor for Greyhound Company.

Mr. Morton was a World War II Army veteran with 24 months in the European Theater. His tour of Germany began on Omaha Beach as one of the replacements during the invasion. He worked in the payroll office for the boys on the front line.

He served as a member and past president of the New Albany Lions Club and was a member of the American Legion.

Cherishing a lifetime of loving memories, he is survived by two devoted daughters, Kay (Dr. Bill) Jennings of Woodbury, TN and Sharon (Richard) Polzin of Brandon, MS; five grandchildren, Nathan (Carolyn) Jennings of Woodbury,TN, Dr. Patrick (Cayce) Jennings of Knoxville, TN, Anna (Tyson) Davis of Poplarville, MS, Justin (Erin) Polzin of Brandon, MS, and Zachary (Lexie) Polzin of Flowood, MS; ten great grandchildren, Pepper Beth, Miles, Mary Charlotte, and Will Jennings; Maggie, Isaac, Benjamin, and Bodie Polzin; Isabel Santana and Brewer Davis; two sisters-in-law; and twenty nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth Allen Morton; a sister-in-law, Mary Townsend Morton; and his loving wife of 35 years, Elizabeth Murrah Morton.

A deep, heartfelt thank you to the Veteran's Home in Kosciusko for their love and care the last few months. As well, a special thanks to the staff of Hospice Care for their compassionate, continuous care in his final days.

Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at United Funeral Service in New Albany, MS with Bro Greg Spencer officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, from 1:00 p.m until time for the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Vista Memorial Park in New Albany, MS.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of one's choice.
