Ray Robinson

Robinson was a member of the Cannon County football team from 1980-1984, and he was one of those special athletes who played a lot of positions on the field, except for quarterback.

During his first three years, he played on the line. However, when a new coach came in during his senior year, Robinson was moved to the backfield.
"It is really neat that somebody thought of me," An emotional Robinson said after finding out he was a part of the 2015 class. "I really appreciate it. First of all, I try to be humble and thank all of the people who helped me get to where I got. I had a lot of good support staff around me.

Robinson was named to All-Midstate twice and All-State during his senior year. He was selected for the All-South team and played in the Tennessee-Kentucky All-Star Game. Coach Phil Fulmer invited him to join the University of Tennessee Volunteers where he played center all four years.

Today, Robinson works as a Tennessee State Trooper, which he has done for the past quarter century based in Nashville, while living in Warren County.
"It can be one of the greatest most uplifting experiences, or it can be one of the most depressing experience you can ever have," Robinson said. "You can walk into classrooms talking to kids, or you can tell someone your child is never coming home. It is a wonderful job, but the highs and lows are night and day.
