Hale pleads guilty to DUI after hitting store pillar with car

A man who rammed into a pillar at Russell's Market on Old Murfreesboro Rd. on Jan. 8 was sentenced to serve 75 days in jail in Cannon County General Sessions Court on Jan. 23.

Stanley Ray Hale pleaded guilty to DUI 2nd offense. He was also given a partially suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days and upon release will be on probation for 9 months, 14 days.

A store video showed Hale was apparently trying to drive his vehicle inside of the market when he hit the pillar instead. He was also ordered to pay a $600 fine, the court costs, and his driver's license will be suspended for two years. In addition, Hale must pay the owners of Russell's Market restitution for any damage not covered by insurance.

• Barbara Nichols pleaded guilty to domestic assault. She was given a partially suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days, ordered to serve 11 days in jail, and was placed on probation for 11 months, 18 days. She also must pay the court costs and, because of the domestic violence conviction, is prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm.

Nichols, of Tullahoma, was charged on Jan. 12 by the Cannon County Sheriff's Dept. after officers responded to a residence on Short Mountain Rd. following a report of a physical domestic in progress.

Dispatch had advised responding officers a knife was involved. It turned out to be a butter knife. Officers made contact with Nichols, Ernest Ray Mashburn Jr., Rachel Spurlock and three male juveniles. Investigation revealed an argument had occurred between Nichols and Mashburn over some text messages.
Mashburn and the three juveniles stated Nichols picked up a glass bowl and threw it, striking on of the juveniles in the head. Fragment pieces of porcelain were observed inside the residence.

Nichols stated that Mashburn then threw her purse outside and she grabbed a guitar and a brief struggle over it occurred. Mashburn stated Nichols smashed the guitar on the kitchen table. Nichols was arrested after officers determined she was the primary aggressor.

• Michael D. Robinson pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment. He received a partially suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days, a 10-day jail sentence, and was placed on probation for 11 months, 19 days. He must also pay the court costs. Charges of vandalism and theft of property were dismissed, subject to good and lawful contact, but he must pay restitution to the victim in the amount of $3,000.

• Jordan M.A. Ward entered a condition plea of guilty to a charge of theft under $1,000. He was granted judicial diversion and placed on probation for 11 months, 29 days, during which time he can not be in possession of a firearm or any other dangerous weapon. He must also pay the court costs and restitution on the amount of $180 to AutoZone.

• John D. Howell pleaded guilty to hunting with an illegal firearm. He received a $500 fine, was ordered to forfeit the weapon and his hunting license was suspended for one year.

• Rachel Odom agreed to revocation for violation of probation. She was ordered to serve her original sentence of 11 months, 29 days. Odom also pleaded guilty to a charge of phone harassment and received a sentence of 11 months, 29 days. The sentences will run concurrent.

• Kevin Wilson agreed to revocation for violation of probation. His probation was extended for 11 months, 29 days.

• Taylor Weddington pleaded guilty to driving while license suspended. She received a 6-month suspended sentence and equal time on probation. She must also pay a $50 fine, the court costs, and her license will be suspended for a period of time to be determined by the Tennessee Department of Safety.

• Bobby J. Cobb agreed to revocation for violation of probation. He was ordered to serve 75 days in jail. Upon release is will be placed back on probation for 3 months, 13 days.

• Derek J. Aji agreed to revocation for violation of probation. He was ordered to serve 60 days in jail. His probation was extended for 9 months, 15 days.

• Amanda Hope Barrett agreed to revocation for violation of probation. Her probation was extended for 11 months, 29 days.

• Misty May Merritt failed a drug screen. Her bond was revoked and she was remanded to the custody of the Cannon County Jail.

• Penny L. Smith failed a drug screen. Her bond was revoked and she was remanded to the custody of the Cannon County Jail.

• Lytle Caster Trout III failed a drug screen. His bond was revoked and he was remanded to the custody of the Cannon County Jail.

• Mack Daniel Slone agreed to revocation for violation of probation. He was ordered to serve 6 months in jail.

• Patrick Ryan Smith agreed to revocation for violation of probation. He was ordered to serve 45 days in jail and his probation was extended for 10 months.
