Greg Tucker to address historical society

Greg Tucker, historian and writer, will speak at the Cannon County Historical Society's meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13.

The meeting is planned for the small dining room area of the Cannon County Senior Center, 609 Lehman St. Enter under the awning.

Tucker, an attorney by profession, is the author of two books: Remembering Rutherford and Rutherford For Real. He writes a column every two weeks in the Sunday edition of the Daily News Journal about the people, places and events that make his home county unique.

His subject will deal with Murfreesboro's Bicentennial which is being celebrated this year and its spillover into Cannon County.

Among the areas that will be covered will be Charles Ready and Readyville, the Rucker-Hale house in Porterfield, the former home of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Mason as well as other topics.

Questions from the audience will be welcomed.

Tucker is president of the Rutherford County Historical Society. He and his wife, Minh-Triet, live in the Donnells Chapel community on Bradyville Pike.

"We will meet at 6:30 p.m. for snacks and refreshments. Please bring your favorites and enjoy the fellowship," said Joe Davenport, historical society president.

The program will begin at 7 p.m.
