Granville preparing fall festival



Historic Granville is currently preparing for the 18th Annual Fall Celebration on October 1st and the month long Scarecrow Festival which will be from October 1st thru October 29th.

These two major events have many new added features as Granville continues the 1930's year long celebration entitled Memories of the 1930's. The Fall Celebration will feature the annual Quilt Festival which will have new features this year as a Granville Historic Home Porches & Quilts Tour has been added in addition to the 1930's

Friendship Quilt display at Granville Museum. The annual Jazz on the Cumberland will occur at Granville Veterans Park with a full day of the best in Jazz Music. Granville Pioneers Village will have the theme of "Days of Yesteryear" at it expands craftsmen as well as Pioneer living of the 1860's. As you go back in the Days of Yesteryear

You will see sorghum making, cider making, grist mill operating, pioneer cooking, weaving, broom making, and much more as the village operates like it would have in times past.

A great schedule of musical entertainment will be occurring at the Pruett Stage including gospel, country, bluegrass and music of the 1960's. The festival will also include

A full day of entertainment for children with rides, petting zoo, train ride and other entertainment. The festival also includes a motorcycle show, craftsmen booths, storytelling, Living history demonstrations and much more.

October 1st will also be the grand opening of the 4th Annual Scarecrow Festival which will be open Wednesday thru Saturday thru October 29th. Tennessee largest scarecrow Festival will have over 300 scarecrows with 100 of those being life size real looking scarecrows. You will be given a guide that tells you the history of each scarecrow. A great new feature this year will be the Wizard of Oz section where you will walk down the yellow brick road and see scarecrows of Wizard of Oz that have been created.

And a special new feature on Memories of the 1930's. This festival is a great event for all ages and Sutton General Store will feature a special fall lunch each day.

The Sutton Homestead will also have a special guided tour of Scarecrows of our Past, Antique Car Museum will feature Automobiles of the 1930's and the Pioneer Village
