Monday, March 15, 2010 9:13 pm
This year’s Good Ole Days, the fifth annual, will be held May 14 and 15 around the square of the courthouse.
At least that is the plan. In the event the courthouse square area is not ready in time due to revitalization work being done downtown, festivities will be moved to the Cannon County Fairgrounds.
Fair organizers, however, said Monday that they have been assured by Cannon County Executive Mike Gannon and Terry Preston that every effort will be made to have the square ready in time to host the event. Preston is co-owner of Preston Brothers Construction, the firm hired to do the renovation work.
Application forms to enter pageants are already available, and can be picked up at various locations including local schools, the Senior Center and REACH. They are also available online at http://www.goodoledaysofcc.com.
Good Ole Days is looking for a variety of vendors this year including, but not limited to, food, crafts, retail and activities. In the past the festival has brought over 5000 people to enjoy vendors, pageants, baby shows, parades, music and much more.
Good Ole Days is also excited to offer new opportunities for companies to augment their support of the Cannon County Senior Center and REACH Afterschool Program. Business sponsors will be acknowledged in the program, on signage, and with varying recognition packages ranging from podium announcements to special event materials.
Good Ole Days of Cannon County proceeds benefit the Cannon County Afterschool Programs and the Senior Citizens Center.
The festival features an array of music from country, gospel, bluegrass and rock. There are will also be plenty of food booths, craft booths and local vendors. The parade will take place on Saturday from 12-1pm and the theme is “Blast from the Past” which includes horse, mules, antique tractors, antique cars, floats and military.
