Funeral services for Gloria Spry Rummel Gordon, age 79 of Manchester will be conducted Monday, May 9, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel.  Burial will follow at Adam Duncan Cemetery in the Goose Pond community.  Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00-9:00 PM at the funeral home.  Mrs. Gordon passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011 in Manchester.

Born February 9, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of the late Helen Miskell Spry and Newton H. Spry.  Ms. Gordon was active in PTA, having served as president of Westwood Elementary School and Secretary of the District PTA.  She had been a member of Jaycettes and the American Legion Auxiliary.  Ms. Gordon was Past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter # 339 and she served as Mother Advisor of the Order of Rainbow for Girls, Rainbow Assembly # 113 in Manchester for nine years.  She held art classes in her home for children and adults.  She served as Chairman of Manchester Arts Commission in the 1970’s and coordinated the Old Stone Fort Art Show for several years.  Ms. Gordon served on the Housing Commission for two terms.  She taught Sunday School at the First United Methodist Church in Manchester where she was a member for 45 years.  Before joining the Methodist Church, she was a Charter Member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Tullahoma.

Ms. Gordon was a well-known local artist and had her work featured at one-man shows at the Parthenon Gallery at the Parthenon in Nashville and at the Tullahoma Fine Arts Center.  She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Rummel; two brothers, Virgil and Arnold Spry; and two sisters, Mila M. Hutcheson and Shirley S. Kellehan.

Survivors include her very dear friend, John M. Gordon of Manchester; three loving daughters, Linda Devendorf of California, Patricia Jinkins and husband, Richard of Wisconsin and Carla Richcreek of Tennessee; two grandchildren, Robert and Katherine (Katy) Jinkins; and one step-grandson, Von Richcreek also of Tennessee.
