On Thursday, January 17, 2019 the Woodbury Lions Club hosted an American Red Cross Blood Drive at the Lions Memorial Building. Red Cross set a goal of 36 units due to past history and what is normally collected in a rural area on a six hour Drive. There were 53 people who signed in and 46 units were obtained, going over the goal by 10 units. Woodbury Lions Club members Bobby and Brenda Bogard, Clyde and Kitty Bush, Carl and Patsy Hirlston, Greg and Deborah Wessel, Lois Larimer and Travis Mattox assisted Blood Drive chairman John Basinger in making sure everything went smoothly, along with volunteer Virginia Rogers. Brushaber gaves in many different ways to the Cannon County community, serving as a corrections officer for the sheriff's department, and as a volunteer with the rescue squad and the Short Mountain Volunteer Fire Department.
