George Reunion August 14



On Saturday, August 14, 2010, all George relations', in-laws and out-laws, friends and family will meet within their ancestral homeland, the Gassaway Community of Cannon County.
    
The Gassaway Community Center and Fire Hall will be open at noon to welcome the descendants of Charles and Bastoria Hughes George, Samuel L. and Sarah Jennings George, and Sammie and Jennie P. Tate George.  The incredible experience of tasting the many amazing dishes from recipes old and new, will begin at 12:30 PM.
    
In 1865, the end of the Civil War, Samuel L. George, along with his parents, Charles and Bastoria (Hughes) George, moved to Turkey Branch in the Gassaway Community. There they built their home, Samuel married Sara Jennings. They raised their ten children: Jordan S., Rufus L., Jacob Eli “Jake”, John W., Sylvanus, Cornelous, Marcelious, Malissie, and Sammie on Turkey Branch. Over the years descendants have ventured to many different regions adding new family and friends.  
    
The children of Sammie and Jennie (Tate) George: Nina Campbell, Inez Bogle, Ernestine Tate, Grady George, Howard George, Betty Ledna, Frelan George and their grandchildren invite all family and friends, in-laws and out-laws to attend.
