George Reunion August 13

The George Reunion will be Saturday, August 13, 2011, at the Gassaway Community Center and Fire Hall located in the Gassaway Community in Northeast Cannon County.  The doors will open at 11:00 AM with lunch beginning at 12:30 PM.  

The children and grandchildren of Sammie and Jennie (Tate) George: Nina Campbell, Inez Bogle, Ernestine Tate, Grady George, Howard George, Betty Ledna, Frelan George, along with their children invite all family and friends, in-law and out-law descendants of Charles and Bastoria (Hughes) George, their son Samuel L. and Sarah (Jennings) George, and children Sammie (Jennie), Jordan S., Rufus L., Jacob Eli “Jake”, John W., Sylvanus, Cornelous, Marcelious, and Malissie George to attend this reunion.

With the conclusion of the Civil War in 1865, Samuel L. George and his parents, Charles and Bastoria (Hughes) George, acquired land and built their home on Turkey Branch.  Samuel married Sara Jennings and they raised 10 children in their home on Turkey Branch in the Gassaway Community.   Each year their descendants meet on the second Saturday in August at the Gassaway Community Center and Fire Hall.

Everyone is invited to enjoy lunch, share photos, precious memories and discuss family history or tales.
