George David "Peanut" Mathis

George David "Peanut" Mathis, age 58, of Woodbury passed away June 17, 2015 at Stones River Hospital. He was a native of Cannon County.

Survivors include his sisters, Joyce (Jim) Weisse, Jean (Troy) Murphy, Alice Davis, Ruth (Ricky) Murphy, & Mary Carmack, all of Woodbury; Step-Brother, Wade Merritt, of Woodbury; Sisters-in-law, Ruby Mathis & Wanda Kay Mathis. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Richard Mathis & Mary Elizabeth Stanley Mathis Merritt; Brothers, Billy Joe Mathis & Jerry Mathis; and Sister, Betty Markum.

Mr. Mathis was a member of the Baptist church and was a tree surgeon at Moorehead.

Funeral service will be at 3 PM Friday, June 19, 2015 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Center Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 9 am until time of service at the funeral home.
