Free concerts to rock Boro's Main Street

Good music, good food, good friends and the extraordinary atmosphere of our community’s downtown will come together Friday, June 7, when Main Street Murfreesboro/Rutherford County launches this year’s Friday Night Live concert series, presented by Saint Thomas Health.

Bring your lawn chairs and join the fun on the first Friday of June, July, August and September at 6:30 p.m. The concerts are free of charge, thanks to Main Street and the events’ sponsors.

Friday’s concert, sponsored by Heritage South Credit Union and City Auto, features the music of The Leonard Brothers Band. Expect a classic rock, high-energy show with covers of some of rock’s famous names.

            The remaining schedule is:

  • July 5: Skyline Drive, a nine-member show band with two female vocalists, horns, drums, keyboard, the works.

  • Aug. 2: Dirty Proper, who puts a new twist on pop, rock and country soul.

  • Sept. 6: Entice, in the business of entertaining and rocking the house for 15 years.

“If you’ve never been to Friday Night Live, you’re missing one of our community’s best parties,” Kathleen Herzog, Main Street executive director, said. “The ambiance just can’t be beat, and because of that, we lure some of the best concert bands around. Yet we couldn’t do it without our terrific sponsors.” She added that this is the first year Saint Thomas Health has joined the concert series as the presenting sponsor.

The music usually wraps up about 9:30 p.m.

The Main Street Program is affiliated with the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s National Main Street Center and follows the tenets of that program. Main Street capitalizes on the unique character of the courthouse square and the surrounding business district with the goal of transforming it into the cultural, social, professional and retail center of Rutherford County ... in essence, the hub of community life.
