FLAG DAY - JUNE 14
By Col. Jim Stone
Flag Day, in the United States, is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened on June 14, 1777, by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. The United States Army celebrates the Army's Birthday on June 14. In August 1949, President Woodrow Wilson, officially established June 14 as Flag Day. The week of June 14 is also designated as "National Flag Week". The president will issue a proclamation urging U. S. Citizens to fly the American Flag for the duration of the week.
