The Fifth Annual Fishing Rodeo was a red hot success, literally. It was a hot day but a fantastic day for fishing. Lots fish were caught, many hotdogs and drinks were consumed and fun was had by all.

There were 98 kids in attendance with another 80 or so adults, said Mark Vance, Cannon County Wildlife Officer.

"There are some folks that need a word of thanks for their efforts the day of the event. The Cannon County Sheriff's Department cleaned the grounds and set up picnic tables for all to use. Cannon County EMS was at the event to aid in a medical emergencies that might arise but thankfully only handed out cold water," Vance said.

Mike Alexander came and cooked the hotdogs for everybody. American Legion Post 279 Ladies' Auxiliary handed all the goodie bags to the participants. Lee Wayne Nichols' golf cart was used transporting those that needed help. Woodbury Co-Op provided worms to those that needed fish bait, Vance said.

The American Fisheries Society, Brothers Bonding Company, Moonlight Drive-in, Quick-Stop Market and Reed's Building Supply all helped provide items for the goodie bags. Thanks to the Old Feed Store for your help and cooperation as well. Thanks to all of Woodbury and Cannon County for your support of this event for the kids, he said.
