Farm and Family School and Cow College continues in February with several opportunities for area livestock producers.
The Mid-State Producers Annual Meeting will be held on Thursday, February 20th at the Woodbury Lions Club Building beginning at 6:30. Agriculture Economist, Dr. Andrew Griffith will discuss ways to maximize profits with our feeder calves, market cows and bulls. Are you planning on saving heifers for replacement or in the Market for buying a few, Dr. Griffith will provide figures on the cost of buying or keeping females.

This meeting along with all meetings hosted by the University of Tennessee Extension is open to the public. Feel free to
attend and fellowship with friends and neighbors throughout the Cannon, DeKalb and Warren county region. This meeting will be held at the Woodbury Lions Club Building.

The meeting on February 27th will target reproductive management of the beef herd. The meeting sponsored by the Cannon County Farm Bureau will discuss breeding and conception issues of the beef herd. Dr. Justin Rhinehart, beef specialist with the University of Tennessee Extension, will illustrate the anatomy of the female bovine. I am really excited with this session, a great opportunity to get a first-hand view of the concepts of animal reproduction. For those producers planning to continue their Master Beef Production certification, this session will count as credit toward the Advanced Master Beef class. Do not forget that all Farm School/Cow College sessions will have refreshments. This meeting will be held at the Woodbury Lions Club Building.

All meetings will begin at 6:30 and open to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age,
