Everett Witty, 73, died January 1, 2011 after a brain stem stroke in 2006.  He has lived and worked in Muncie, Indiana since 1960.

 

He is survived by his wife, Ann McNitt Witty; 3 children, John (Marion) Witty, David (Angie) Witty and Mary (Frank) Smith; 4 grandchildren, Meredith Witty, Nathaniel Witty, Jebadiah Witty, Lukas Witty; Brother, Joe (Evelyn) Witty; Sisters, Margie (Wayne) Helton, Judy (Homer) Young, Hazel (David) McFalls, and several nephews and nieces.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie Joe and Lena Walker Witty.  Sisters, Gladys “Ruth” Witty Taylor Arledge, Lorene Witty Byford, Beatrice Witty Burlason; Brothers, Thomas Ray Witty and Jerry Dale Witty.

 

Everett was an active member of the Westside Church of Christ.  He was a welder at Borg Warner for 47 years.  He helped start Mudokwan Judo School where he became an accomplished Judo instructor and took a second place in National Competition.  He also taught at Richmond Judo Club.  He was a 4th degree black belt.  Everett was a Scout Master for the local boy Scouts aiding 5 boys to Eagle Scout rank.  He and several of the Scounts were members of the Order of the Arrow and Firecrafters. The past 20 years he bred TN Walking horses and also sold Shaklee (vitamins).

 

Memorial services will be held at Pleasant View Church of Christ on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 11 am.  there will be videos and picture books and a carry in dinner in the adjacent building after the memorial.  All family, friends and classmates are welcome to stay and visit as long as you wish.
