Mrs. Evelyn Burks Myers, 89, of Woodbury passed away on September 24, 2016. She was a native of Cannon County, born on February 2, 1927. Her parents were the late Vernie Burks and Mary Etta Young Burks. Also preceding her in death were sisters, R. A. Lynn, Jewel Parker and Juanita Parker.

She is survived by her son, Mark E. Davis of Murfreesboro; sister, Myra Haley of Woodbury; half-brothers, Allen Hale and Vernie Hale; grandchildren, Tiffany (Jeremy) Nichols and Samantha (Gabriel) Jensen both of Clarksville, Joshua McDonald of Nashville, and Robert Davidson of Fairview; and three great grandchildren; Max Nichols, Jackson and Finley Jensen.

Mrs. Myers grew up in a close knit family. She learned devotion to her family from an early age. Her unselfish spirit, gentle elegance, and sense of humor was carried throughout her life. She was no stranger to hard work. She held many different jobs through the years. These included, Colonial Shirt Factory, secretary in Governor Ellington's office, and Assistant Hospital Administrator for Good Samaritan Hospital. She was also active with the oversight of the Bryant/Myers Scholarship. During her life she enjoyed doing many different things, going to the Tennessee Walking Horse Celebration, flower gardening, being outdoors, going on hikes, and listening to the music of Elvis, Liberace, and Tennessee Ernie Ford. Her fun loving personality gave her the strength to be able to dance the Charleston well into her 80's. Being with family and caring for others was always her greatest joy. She just loved entertaining and always put everyone else's happiness and wellbeing before her own. She had a true zest for life and always maintained a contagious optimism. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Visitation with the family will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 2 pm in the Smith Funeral Home chapel. Herb Alsup will officiate. Interment will be in Riverside Garden. Pallbearers will be Phillip Lynn, Jerry Lynn, Shane Haley, Gayle Parker, Eugene Davenport, Jeremy "Tank" Nichols, Max Nichols, and Russell Hollandsworth.
