Eugene Rogers



Eugene "Buck" Rogers, 69, of Woodbury died February 7, 2010. He was born March 10, 1940 in Cannon County, TN. His parents were the late Tommie Eugene Rogers and Nessie Mae (Knox) Rogers. He is also preceded in death by his father-in-law, James Mingle, a sister, Nancy Bell Rogers and a great granddaughter, Alyssa Olfat.

He is survived by his wife Virgina (Mingle) Rogers of Woodbury; a son, Tommie & Stacey Rogers of Chicago, IL; two daughters, Christie & Ahmad Olfat of Brentwood and Leanne & Art Hancock of Springhill; four grandsons, Brandon & Elizabeth Olfat, Daniel Olfat, Lucas Olfat and Hunter Hancock; two granddaughters, Bella Rogers and Heidi Rogers; a sister Ruby Rogers of Woodbury and his mother-in-law, Christine Mingle.

He was a member of the West High Street Church of Christ. He worked for Vanderbilt Medical Center for 38 years, he also worked for the Williamson Medical Center, Dickson County Hospital and General Hospital. He left a legacy of coaching community sports in Franklin. He was instrumental in establishing a central location for the Franklin Little League Football program. He was also a member of the Optimist Club of Franklin. Chief among his accomplishments with the Optimists was serving as a commissioner.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2010 from 12:30 until 6:30 PM at Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the Smith Funeral Home chapel at 6:30 PM, Tuesday night. Jack Bailey and Mance Davis will officiate. Interment will be at Thyatira Cemetery on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 3 PM. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
